In 2003, LIA was commissioned to create an interactive web application for the website of British DJ and producer Jonathan Lisle. The project was conceived as an abstract representation of the cognitive process behind music production, rather than a traditional informational page.
The software visualizes a non-linear decision tree. A musician begins with a specific idea, represented visually. From this point, multiple potential directions emerge. Once a specific direction is selected, it becomes the new starting point for the next set of ideas and developments. The visualization utilizes the specific pixel-based aesthetic characteristic of LIA’s work in Macromedia Director during this period.
