In 2021, LIA was invited by Processing co-creator Casey Reas – continuing a professional respect dating back to their first meeting at Ars Electronica in 2003 – to create a new work for ‘Social Codes’, the inaugural curated exhibition on the prestigious Feral File platform.
The resulting work, dada data, is a generative piece that explores the tension between chaos and structure. Inspired by the dynamic visual fields of Op Art pioneers like Marina Apollonio, the work takes simple data points and allows them to generate a complex, seemingly random web of lines. The result is a hypnotic composition of vibrating energy and a profound sense of digital depth, echoing the spirit of Dadaism within a computational system.
